## Three ways to run the year

- **Classic.** Week 1 saves the step, week 2 twice the step, and so on to 52 times the step in the last week. With a step of 1 that is 1 + 2 + … + 52 = 1,378 by the end of the year.
- **Reverse.** The same amounts in the opposite order: the largest deposits come first and the year ends with the smallest ones, which some people find easier around year-end holidays. The total is the same.
- **Same every week.** A fixed amount each week, the steadiest version: 20 a week makes 1,040 over 52 weeks.

Classic or reverse total = step × 52 × 53 ÷ 2 = step × 1,378

Change the step to scale the whole chart: a step of 5 turns the classic challenge into 5, 10, 15 … 260, for 6,890 in total. The start date puts a date on every week, so the chart doubles as a calendar. Tick a week when the money is moved; the summary keeps a running total and what is left.

"Print the chart" prints just the 52 boxes with amounts and dates on one page, ready for the fridge, without the rest of the site.

## Questions

**I missed a week. Do I start again?**

No. Put that week's amount in when you can and tick it then, or move on and leave the box empty. The summary shows exactly what is saved and what is still to come, whichever order you go in.

**Can I do it in cents or small amounts?**

Yes. Any step works, including amounts like 0.50, and every figure is rounded to the cent. With a step of 0.25 the classic chart adds up to 344.50.

**Where are my ticks stored?**

In this browser's local storage under the key stableharvest-challenge, together with the version, amount and start date. Nothing is uploaded. "Untick all weeks" clears the ticks.
